In order to better serve the people-to-people exchanges between China and Ethiopia, and provide applicants with more comfortable and convenient visa application condition and more professional and efficient consular certificate services, from March 13, 2023, China Visa Application Center in Addis Ababa (hereinafter referred to as "Visa Application Center") is responsible for handling some consular document applications, including applications for ordinary Chinese visas, China Hong Kong visas, China Macau visas, and consular authentication, as well as collecting governmental fees for the above-mentioned certificates (including expedited fees and express fees). Applicants can pick up the passports or certificates and seek consultation from Visa Application Center. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:
1. The visa center will start trial operation from March 13 to 17, 2023 (no service fee will be charged during the trial operation period), and will officially operate on March 20. Applicants can fill in the form and make an appointment online through the website of the Visa Application Center. The embassy no longer accepts applications for ordinary visas, China Hong Kong visas, China Macau visas for ordinary passport holders and consular authentication. Applicants must submit the above applications through the Visa Application Center.

2. Those who hold diplomatic or service passports and apply for visas, or apply for Chinese diplomatic, courtesy, or service visas, please submit the application directly to the embassy without an appointment. The embassy will continue to accept applications for notarization, Chinese passports, and travel documents. The time for service is 09:00-11:30 and 14:30-16:00 (except for public holidays).
3. The Visa Application Center will collect the governmental fees and expedited or express fees (which remain the same as before) on behalf of the embassy. The Visa Application Center charges a service fee. Please refer to the website of the Visa Application Center for service fee collection standards.
4. The Visa Application Center does not participate in the visa approval process. Consular officers of the embassy will decide whether to issue a visa and the validity period, duration of stay and number of entries of the visa according to the applicant's specific situation. Consular officers may require the applicant to provide other supporting documents or supplementary materials, or require the applicant to take an interview if necessary.
5. Except for the Visa Application Center, the embassy has not entrusted any other institutions or individuals to provide various consular certificate services. Applicants are requested to apply for consular service in accordance with this notice.
