Mr. Gu Xiaojie, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Handed over Office Equipments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia

On May 15th, 2009, H.E. Mr. Gu Xiaojie, the Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia on behalf of the Chinese Government, handed over office equipments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia. The representatives from the different department of the Ministry and the Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Qian Zhaogang attended the hand-over ceremony.

Ambassador Gu highly appraised the all-round, rapid and healthy development of the friendly Sino-Ethiopian cooperation and the close cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries. He said the office equipments donated by the Chinese Government to Ethiopian Foreign Ministry was the epitome of the Sino-Ethiopian all-round cooperation partnership and would be helpful to improve the working conditions of Ministry. He also reiterated, the Chinese Government cherished the traditional friendship between the two countries and would like to promote the all-round cooperation to a new high under the frame work of the Forum of China-Africa cooperation.

The Director General of the Middle East, Asian and Oceania Affairs, Ambassador Mahdi, on behalf the Foreign Ministry expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese Government and people, and believed the servers and computers etc. donated by the Chinese Government would help the Ministry to improve its working conditions and enhance its capacity building, when the Ministry was making efforts to implement BPR and improve the working efficiency. Ambassador Mahdi also pointed out that, the cooperation of the two sides in trade, commerce, investment and human resources etc. have strategic importance to Ethiopia; the Ethiopian side would commit to promote and deepen the strategic partnership with China.

The donation was declared by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in his visit to Ethiopia in 2008.
