On October 30th, H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China extended congratulatory message to H. E. Sahle-Work Zewde, the newly elected President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Here is the full text of the letter.

Excellency,

Upon learning with delight of your election as the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, I would like to, on behalf of the Government and People of the People’s Republic of China and in my own name, express my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you. May you achieve every success in fulfilling this lofty duty.

In recent years, China-Ethiopia relations have been enjoying rapid and holistic development manifested by ever consolidated political mutual trust and fruitful outcomes in pragmatic cooperation. I attach great importance to the development of China-Ethiopia relations and I am looking forward to working with you, taking the opportunity of implementing the deliverables achieved in the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), to further advance our friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation in all sectors, to enrich the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between China and Ethiopia, for the purpose of better benefiting our two peoples and countries.
