On January 17th, 2019, H. E. Tan Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, met with Ms. Maureen Achieng, Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) Ethiopia, at the Chinese Embassy.

Ms. Maureen Achieng briefed the Ambassador on the migration cooperation between IOM and the Ethiopian government, and expressed appreciation on the growing role of China in the international arena. She also stressed the willingness and necessity to cement the cooperation between Chinese embassy in Ethiopia and IOM Ethiopia.

The Ambassador updated Ms. Maureen Achieng on the latest development of China-Ethiopia cooperation. He underlined that the principle of multilateralism has been China's consistent position. Ambassador Tan also expressed the hope to expand cooperation with IOM Ethiopia in migration field.
