Addis Ababa, August 7 (Addis Ababa)– Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Gu Xiaojie, said Ethiopia is attracting more investors from China and the rest of the world following the maximally favorable climate it created for investment.

In an exclusive interview he held with WIC, Ambassador Gu said the political stability, huge untapped natural resources, and the favorable investment policies put in place by the government are catching the attention of investors from China and various Asian, European, American and African countries.

Ambassador Gu said there are more than 100 Chinese investors who are doing business transactions in cement factory, pharmaceutical and construction sectors.

Concerning the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and China, he said the two countries have strong and multifaceted cooperation mainly in the political, economic, culture, education, agriculture and infrastructure sectors.

Ambassador Gu added that trade is also an area where the two countries are enjoying strong relations and it reached about 300 million USD.

China is keen to continue its cooperation and relationship as well as assist Ethiopia's fast economic growth, Ambassador Gu indicated.

He further said China will keep up its cooperation with African countries despite groundless allegations from some countries that are unhappy with our relations.

"We are confident that the governments and people of Africa are satisfied about what we are doing," Ambassador Gu noted.

He further said China is finding new ways with new innovations to help African nations.

Regarding Ethiopia's role in bringing lasting peace in Africa, he said Ethiopia is playing an important role in stabilizing and bringing peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the continent at large.

Recently China has awarded scholarship to 41 Ethiopian students, which he said is a clear manifestation of China's cooperation with Ethiopia in the education sector.

Ambassador Gu finally congratulated Ethiopians for the peaceful and successful conclusion of the elections which took place last May as well as commended Ethiopia's progress towards democracy.
