ADDIS ABABA, August 7 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia is interested in sharing experiences with China in information and media management, Minister of Communication Affairs Office Bereket Simon said on Saturday.

In an exclusive interview with Xinhua in the Ethiopian capitalAddis Ababa, Bereket said Ethiopia is keen to strengthen cooperation with China in information and media management.

The minister is just back home after attending a short-term course on media and information management in China, which was organized by the Chinese Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Information.

Bereket said the way China informs the public is the most appropriate for Ethiopia.

The minister said the workshop was a forum to share experiences in information management and media handling.

"It was a very good workshop; we have met with several ministers and people who work at universities have been giving us lectures based on the researches they have made in terms of information management; and in general it was a very, very good experience that we have and the lessons we got from China in that respect is very good," said Bereket.

According to the minister,China has a very good experience in media handling and Ethiopia is keen to share this rich experience from China.

"I have been in several experience sharing visits around the world, but what amazed me is the way Chinese informs the public which basically fit to our reality; the way they handle the media, the way they try to inform the public extensively and the way they use information for development and benefit the public; in a wider sense it is the most appropriate for our society," he said.

"In the media sector, China and Ethiopia are cooperating in a lot of ways; we share experiences; we have the access to different Chinese technologies; if you are looking at the expansion we are doing at the Ethiopian Radio and Television, it is conducted with the Chinese technology; so it is going very well and for sure we have a lot of things to do together in the future," he added.

"There is a broad range where we share experience and help each other; so far it is helpful and very encouraging for both countries," said Bereket.

Speaking of Xinhua News Agency and its activities, Bereket said Xinhua has been reporting with objective and balanced stories.

"Xinhua has been here for many years a! nd we see the reporting by Xinhua has been objective and balanced and has no interest interfering one's internal affairs, and only serves mutually benefiting purposes; we believe that the News Agency will also do well in the future," he said.

"I have visited the Headquarters of Xinhua and met with the deputy president of Xinhua; we have understood that Xinhua is becoming one of the biggest media not only in China but also around the globe," Bereket said.

"We would like to see the experience of Xinhua is shared here inEthiopia as well; there are a lot of information broadcast by Xinhua and our media ...we have this common interest agreed to strengthen; and hopefully your performance here will be upgraded to satisfy the interest of Ethiopia and China as well as Africa," he added.
